Discovering Ancestral Lineage and Understanding the Reichmann Surname using an iGENEA DNA Test
Family name Reichmann
In pursuit of decoding my ancestral lineage tied to the surname Reichmann, I embarked on a DNA testing journey with iGENEA. Analysed using advanced techniques like Short Tandem Repeats (STRs) and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), my DNA offered surprising insights about my genetic roots, linking me not only within Germany but also across Eastern Europe, tracing back to the Ashkenazi Jewish community.
With an aim to delve deeper into my personal history, I got my DNA tested through iGENEA. The technical aspects of this method are impressive - it's a straightforward and noninvasive procedure. The company provides an easy-to-use kit, which includes swabs for the collection of cheek cell samples. These swabs were then sent back to the lab, where an array of sophisticated techniques, including Short Tandem Repeats (STRs) and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), were used to analyze my DNA.
The unraveled data has given some striking insights into my ancestral lineage related to the surname Reichmann. It was surprising that the connection lies not only within Germany, the presumed origin but also stretches far across Eastern Europe, revealing a rich tapestry of migratory patterns and ethnic associations.
IGENEA upholds a high accuracy benchmark in their test results. STRs analysis, for example, allows for a detailed study of specific segments of DNA. These regions can then be matched with various global populations, indicating probabilities of ethnic and geographical ancestry. Meanwhile, SNPs provide information about variation in genetic sequencing, enabling a deeper understanding of genealogical connections.
The results were presented to me in a user-friendly report, which clearly demarcates my estimated ethnic percentages and a corresponding world map, showing the potential migration paths of my ancestors. Interestingly, a closer look at my paternal lineage (symbolised by the Reichmann surname) revealed a significant Eastern European ancestry, tracing back to the Ashkenazi Jewish community. This discovery not only sparked my curiosity but also a sense of connectivity with a heritage I was previously unaware of.
IGENEA also offers a comprehensive genetic genealogy database, enabling the matchmaking of tested individuals with potential relatives across the globe. Unfortunately, I’ve not found any direct links so far, but the door remains open. Given the technical precision and statistical accuracy of the DNA test, I’m confident that the resultant data is reliably indicative of my genetic roots.
To sum up, the DNA test at iGENEA has established a profound link between my lineage and the Reichmann surname in historical, ethnic, and geographic contexts. This exploration has been an enlightening journey, enhancing my knowledge about my deep-rooted past.
