A Journey into My Genetic History: Unraveling the Middle Eastern Roots of Surname Solano Through iGENEA DNA Test
Family name Solano
My recent DNA test at iGENEA opened an entirely new perspective on my Solano surname. By combining insights from the mitochondrial DNA, Y chromosome, and autosomal DNA tests, I discovered that despite my Spanish surname, my roots traced back to ancient Semitic people in the Middle East - a fact that wonderfully bridges cultural heritage and personal identity.
I have recently undergone a DNA testing at iGENEA which totally expanded my knowledge about my surname, Solano. To be as technical as possible, iGENEA explores your lineage through mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) tests, Y chromosome tests, and autosomal DNA tests. Both my mtDNA and Y-DNA reflect my direct maternal and paternal lines respectively, over thousands of years. The autosomal test, however, represents all my family lines up to six or seven generations.
The DNA test revealed that my Y-DNA belongs to haplogroup E1b1b1a1, which traced my paternal lineage back to the ancient Semitic people in the Middle East around 4,000 years ago. This was a revelation considering that Solano is a Spanish surname, which had me believing of European ancestry.
The autosomal test showed links to both Spanish and Middle Eastern genetic markers, which correlates with the history of Spain. The country had been under Islamic Moorish rule for several centuries, which had left a significant genetic impact on the population.
Next came the mtDNA test; it associated me with haplogroup T2, which identified my maternal line to be of Near Eastern origin, again echoing the Semitic connections that Y- DNA disclosed.
The set of genetic markers disclosed by DNA test are unique and hence, determine my unique genetic code. iGENEA ensures a high precision of these genetic markers, hence the accuracy of my lineage and ancestral roots.
This DNA test has been a revelation, transforming my understanding of my surname Solano. Not only did it enlighten me about my genetic past but also showcased the historical journey of my ancestors. Despite Solano being a Spanish surname, its origins can be traced back to the Middle Eastern Semitic population, an intriguing blend of cultures indeed.
